The BSE Curriculum, Civil Engineering
The civil specialization undergraduate program produces competent graduates who are prepared for employment or for graduate study. The curriculum covers the fundamentals of engineering, emphasizes the basic principles, and educates the student in the use of these principles to reach optimal design solutions for engineering problems. Opportunities for civil students to deepen and broaden their technical education exist through several avenues, including faculty-led research, Mercer On Mission, or through the pursuit of a minor in Engineering for Development.

4+1 Bachelor of Science in Engineering/Master of Science in Engineering, Civil Specialization
Students who complete the first three years of the Bachelor of Science in Engineering with a civil specialization with grades which qualify them for graduate study may directly pursue the Master of Science in Engineering degree during their fourth and fifth years of study. The program is available to BSE students majoring in the environmental and mechanical specializations too. A full calendar year is needed to complete the Master of Science in Engineering in Civil Engineering degree.
