University Honors Program (UHP) in the School of Business
Dr. Robi Ragan, Director
The Stetson School of Business and Economics University Honors Program (SSBE UHP) provides opportunities for engagement for interested students interested in studies and experiences related to business endeavors. The goals of the SSBE UHP are to: (1) recognize students who have distinguished themselves in the classroom and through other areas of engagement, such as research and service. (2) provide opportunities for these students to work under an experienced faculty mentor and (3) prepare students for graduate or professional pursuits within their field of study.
Any SSBE student with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.70 may apply to the University Honors Program prior to the spring semester of their second year. The application requires students to outline their academic and professional plans, as well as their involvement with at least two areas of extracurricular engagement, which include research or service within a business discipline. Students should indicate how their involvement is above and beyond the requirements of their major. Those with a strong written application and a successful interview will be offered acceptance to the SSBE UHP. Admission to the program will be announced by the SSBE UHP Director by the end of March of the spring semester.
To successfully complete the SSBE UHP, students are required to:
Complete a minimum of six hours of research (478) and honors thesis (494) courses in their appropriate discipline (ACC, BUS, ECN, FIN, MGT, and MKT) with a minimum combined 3.7 GPA
Maintaining a minimum 3.70 cumulative GPA throughout their time in the SSBE UHP
Develop a culminating scholarly work.
Present the culminating scholarly work publicly, in a forum to be determined in consultation with the SSBE UHP Director.
Students who fall below a 3.70 cumulative GPA at any point in their time in the SSBE UHP may be allowed to continue in the program for a limited period on a probationary basis at the discretion of the Director of the SSBE University Honors Program.
